In the womb the breathing apparatus develops last. Out of the womb the breath comes first. At the end of life there’s the final breath. Alpha and Omega.
Between birth and death, the breath serves and pleases perfectly. Sometimes refreshing, energizing and inspiring, sometimes comforting, soothing and relaxing, the breath gives us what we need, waiting on us 24 hours a day, every day of our lifetime. It is the breath that brings us life, one breath after another for the rest of our life. With the breath we are able to see, hear, taste, touch, feel, smell and enjoy the world around us. Without our breath, we would have nothing, nowt, zilch, niente, nada, zip, not a sausage, not even that.
That which I need most in my life right now, is right here, right now, within my heart, within my breath — always has been, always will be, always is. It is exactly where I want it, where I need it: when I want it, when I need it. Oh happy days filled with exquisite moments all because of this breath!
Only one breath matters: this one. This one breath now is the only one I can know, feel or experience; others are imagination or memory. The only place I can live is here; the only time I can live is now. I am in the right place at right time and I can enjoy my stay here if I can appreciate this one breath.
We owe everything to the breath. We will never be able to repay it but we can pay it the attention it deserves. Why is it that we so often take for granted those closest to our hearts? Instead of taking this breath for granted, appreciate it, love it and adore it. No one can buy a breath, not even a single breath, not even the richest person in the world. So accept this most precious gift totally and completely. Accept every breath, extract the joy from each breath as it comes. We have this chance to be fulfilled, we must take it. When the breath withdraws its service, there will be no time for talk, protest, debate or philosophical discussion.
Be thankful for this wonderful gift of life, let that gratitude grow and out of that gratitude express your love for this breath in all the ways you possibly can. Fulfillment will be yours.
